When most people begin playing world of warcraft they do not have anyone to help them earn gold along the way. It is a trial and error, hit and miss kind of endeavor. Don’t worry I will help you by telling you exactly how to use mining to line your bank account with gold.
When you begin playing World of Warcraft you are going to start in a “newbie” zone. In this zone there will be not crafting trainers. Its ok, you can’t train in mining until level 5 any way. So hunker down and knock the first 5 or 6 levels out and earn some money so you can afford the training and the tools that you will need.
Once you are ready to leave the newbie area you will be ready to train your mining. Simply ask a guard where a mining trainer is and they will point you in the right direction. Find the trainer and purchase the skill then look nearby for a mining or blacksmithing supplier. You will purchase a mining pick from them. The mining pick is the only tool that you will ever need as a miner.
The Engineering, Blacksmithing, and Jewelcrafting are tradeskills that require mining as a gathering skill but take my advice and do not train in any of those skills. Instead go find a skinning trainer, train and purchase a skinning knife. I advise you to choose skinning because herbalism (the other gathering skill) requires that you track herbs to pick them. Since you can only track one thing at a time skinning gives you another income source and does not split your tracking time.
Now that you are all trained up you are ready to head out into the wide world of Azeroth and put those skills to work and start earning some money. You will find copper the zone that you will be leveling in after the newbie zone. Keep your mineral tracking up and look for golden dots on your mini map. The dots are mineral deposits so head on over and start mining. Do not be discouraged if you fail at first. Just keep mining and when you have a couple of stacks of ore go to a forge and smelt them. This will bring up your mining skill and you will fail less often.
Now that you are starting to get some metal bars you can take them to the auction house and sell them. Check to see what others are charging for the same item and then either meet their price or undercut it by a few percent and you will be making gold in no time.
The process is the same for every zone and every kind of ore. You mine it and smelt it to turn it into bars. As you progress in levels you will enter new zones with higher level ore. Higher level bars mean more gold at the auction house. A side benefit of mining is that occasionally you will mine a gem with your ore just think of the gem as whipped cream on top of the pie. Sell them in the same way.
If you followed my advice you will be skinning your way to riches as well. One stream of income is nice but more is much better. Use this simple world of warcraft mining guide and you will be in gold for your entire career.
