How do I look up chat logs in World Of Warcraft?
I was told that you can look up your own chat logs in World of Warcraft and save them after exiting from the game, thus not being able to read what was said online. But I am trying to get one funny conversation I had for a comic idea and now I can’t find it. It just isn’t as funny when it isn’t word for word. Any ideas? I don’t want to get a GM involved because they are too anal about bad language. Which is quite contradicting considering they have family filters installed >.>
dj, A filter is a perfect REASON for having the right to exercise my freedom of speech. But regardless of this fact, I am not looking for a lecture, nor an attempt to extinguish my constitutional rights. Please stick to the question and leave the opinions for debate forums.
The game does not store a copy of the chat logs on your system or attached to your account. A GM will never quote back the chat logs which are stored on the server unless it’s to provide reasoning for account action (like a ban).
That said, there are addons which add this functionality but the files they create can become unruly if they’re not deleted or renamed frequently.
The World of Warcraft Terms of Use prohibit the use of both clear and masked language, the filter is not an excuse to say whatever you like. It is there for parents and others who do not want their children or themselves to be directly exposed to inappropriate language. They have every right to report the violation, filtered or not.
