world of warcraft newspaper article

What is World of Warcraft?

I’m writing a newspaper article, not ABOUT world of Wow at all. At my school, 2 weeks of our summer was cut so I’m writing a bitingly sarcastic article “What you could have done with the 2 weeks we now have school.” and I have several scenarios for several castes of people, including the gamer.

I just need to know enough to write about one persons experiences on WoW. For example, my first paragraph is “After countless hours on Xbox live with friends, you guys have had some pretty good laughs. And with two weeks until school starts, it’s not over yet.
As you settle down at your computer to play World of Warcraft, you know it’s going to be a good day in Azeroth.”

BASICALLY WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IS:
1. Objectives
2. What are levels? What is considered a good level? What is a reasonable amount of time to advance a level?
3. Who are enemies? In what ways do you destroy them?
4. What is some WoW jargon and how could I use it in my article?

THANKS!

1. Leveling your character to 80, getting the best gear (armor, weapons) you can from raiding (raiding is when large groups of players join together to go through a dungeon)
2. A “level” is the representation of how powerful your character is, and also determines what skills/spells they can use (a higher level character will have a more powerful spell than a lower level character, for example). A good level would be the highest currently in the game: 80. It takes more time to level up your character with each level, but people who play the game a lot shouldnt have any issues leveling up within a few hours, despite what level they are.
3. The enemies are various computer controlled characters (called NPC’s, which stands for non-player characters), unless you’re in the Battlegrounds (abbreviated as BG) or the PvP Arena (PvP stands for player versus player), where you fight other players. By fighting them with whatever your class has: spells, bows, crossbows, guns, swords, axes, maces, polearms, etc.
4. any kind of “l33t speech” will do (google it, if you don’t know what it is), the word “n00b” is used a lot (basically an insult, it’s calling someone else a “newbie” and unskilled), and the word “pwn” is used a lot (it’s the l33t speak way of saying “own”, and would be used after defeating any enemy with ease, or to insult someone who you just beat)

Any other info you need on WoW or other gaming/nerd related subjects, feel free to message me… I am well versed in the way of the gaming nerd (I know, hard to believe, ain’t it?)
