world of warcraft installation help!?
every time i download Wow off of the disc it reaches 98% and just stops saying sorry, installation failed and some crap about renaming files. i tried shuting down and switching to safe mode and networking but it never loads all the stuff
plzzzz help 10 pts to best answere!
and its not my cpu i have DOUBLE the recomendend requirements and the fastest internet connection possible!
Did you when you started, and do you now, have any preexisting World of Warcraft files on your computer?
If you’re trying to install or reinstall and there are already WoW files, patches or folders on the destination drive, then it could cause some issues with naming conventions (hence the rename error). Uninstall everything you’ve got there so far that has to do with WoW. Since it’s not a complete install yet, you won’t be able to click the uninstall feature. Just delete the WoW folder. WoW does not write to your registry, so there aren’t any lingering dlls or files outside of the WoW folder.
Run a Spyware/Malware/Virus check and be sure your computer is clean and spyware/malware/virus free. Then, shut down your firewall or virus protection software. Disconnect from the internet if you’re concerned about it (and that’s understandable). Some services have trouble with new software installations. You’ll just be pausing the service until your install is complete.
Then, begin installation. Use the same CD drive each time you put in a disc (don’t put different discs in different CD drives if you’ve got more than 1 drive).
You might want to check up on Blizzard’s support site to learn more about the specific error you’re seeing and what’s causing it. Keywords that are used in the error, or an error code will be even more useful, if the install still will not go through.
