World of warcraft pets for Hunters?

does anyone know all the pets you can get, so i can have options of the pet i want. and does anyone know what pet is the strongest? and these are all combat pets im talking about. thanks.
im a blood elf. level 28, havent been playing since the last expansion of the burning crusade. i have a pet dragon hawk. what do you think about the pet? and what pet do you prefer.

I strongly suggest going here…

http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/

It has a listing of all the pets available to hunters for taming and she updates pretty well when things change in Wow.

There isn’t a “strongest” pet per se. A while back, Blizzard normalized the pets so all of them are pretty much the same. What is different are the abilities they can learn and the talents they can learn.

Basically the three types you can get are pets that do a lot of damage, pets that take a lot of damage, and pets who are balanced.

I usually base my pet choices on these conditions.

1. What is the special ability? Is it offensive, defensive, or utility?
2. What does it need to eat?
3. Do I like how how the pet looks?
4. Do I need a tank or a damage dealer?

Edit: Apparently Petopia is down at the moment. :(

A dragon hawk isn’t a bad pet. It looks cool and I generally like all the flying pets – I have a butterfly from Outland. I’m not that big a fan of their fire breath ability, but it does have it’s usefulness.

I’m not sure if they’ve fixed this yet, but make sure when you tamed the dragon hawk that it didn’t have a mana bar. Apparently, pets that had mana bars when they were tamed count as a “caster” which actually means the pet will have lower stats and effectiveness overall. If you need to retame a new pet, it shouldn’t be a big deal since pets now automatically level up close to the characters level (if they’re not within 5 levels of each other).
