world of warcraft patch 2\.4, virtually no FPS, and Direct3D won’t start? (ATI Mobility Radeon 9000)?
So I have a few posts in Wow Tech Support, but they’re no help at all for ATI users, and it’s really frustrating.
The Saga:
Before the patch I didn’t have the greatest framerate ever, but I got more RAM and an external and updated DirectX and the graphics drivers to the best of my ability, so it should at least have been playable. After the patch, I may get about a minute of decent FPS before it drops down to one or two… four if I’m lucky.
I also had issues with Direct3D. At first, I was getting an error message about it that wasn’t inhibiting my playing, but it soon downgraded to not opening the program at all. I fixed it the first time by running Driver Cleaner and following those directions, but the framerate was still an issue. It was recommended in the forums to download the latest Omega drivers (based on Catalyst 7.12), which are supposedly combatible. I did that and followed the instructions. Lo and behold, the stupid Direct3D issues are back. Help me please!
i’m not sure what most of that means, but if you’re using addons, you WILL have to delete them all (not just disable, but delete). before i figured this out, i would log into the game, take one step and freeze. deleted my addons and now it runs like a charm, although i do miss auctioneer terribly :’(
