If you look at the previous expansions, they each introduced a brand new continent that took players away from the lands of Azeroth where they spent all of their time in the original base game. The way that quests, raids and dungeons were designed improved radically with each expansion, but the “original world” of the game was left mostly untouched.
Wow Cataclysm changes that. The Cataclysm brings players back to Azeroth proper and completely changes everything that they knew about the world. Almost every zone from the original game has been revamped with both new geography and new quests. This means that even players who have leveled multiple characters up to level 80 can experience brand new things in the early levels.
There are many changes in the world due to the Cataclysm. For example, the Barrens has now been split into two with a huge fissure running down the middle. Several towns around the world, including Auberdine and Camp Taurajo have been destroyed either by the events of the Cataclysm or by the rival faction. The Plaguelands are now beginning to heal from the undead blight, and players get to play a role in that reclamation.
The WoW Cataclysm also brings with it two new playable races, the Goblins and the Worgen. The world-shattering events of the Cataclysm have brought these reclusive races out of their comfort zone and forced them to forge alliances with the Horde and the Alliance, respectively.
In addition to the revamp of old areas, many new areas will be introduced, such as the ancient titan city of Uldum and the underground realm of Deepholm. High level players will be able to explore these areas and battle against the newest threats to face Azeroth.
WoW Cataclysm offers everything that previous expansions have offered and a whole lot more. It’s sure to make the most popular MMO even more popular!
