My laptop is seriously messed up, turning itself off, and freezing when loading things.?

My laptop is an HP dv5000 and is about 1.5 years old now. My laptop has been making strange noises for a few weeks now, and I’ve been meaning to bring it in to Best Buy but haven’t found the time. Now it is randomly turning itself off, freezing whenever I try to play a video, whether it be on youtube, myspace, or even with Winamp. I can’t play music either without it just freezing and making me incapable of doing anything, besides moving the mouse around.

Because of this new problem loading things, I am unable to run World of Warcraft and Ventrillo at the same time. Whenever I open Vent, my game/computer as a whole lags horribly. I don’t understand why my computer can still run WoW and not a simple program like Ventrillo. Please help me, my computer is practically my life. >.<

Your computer may be starting to experience a fan problem. If the fan is being clogged up by dust, then the fan will ultimately slow down causing the CPU to become excessively warm. This will this cause the CPU to slow down. If it’s not the fan, then it’s probably the motherboard, the small parts like the capacitors, ICs and LEDs could be starting to fail.
